Our new company name

The beverage alcohol industry is constantly evolving, and Southern Glazer’s has evolved alongside it. Shifting consumer preferences, emerging trends, product innovation, and a more diverse beverage landscape continue to reshape the way people discover, purchase, and enjoy beverages.

This year, that growth is being reflected in a new company name: Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company.

The transition to Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company is more than a name change. It recognizes a business that has expanded to serve a broader range of beverage categories and customer needs.

Positioned for what’s next in beverage

Consumers are exploring a wider variety of products than ever before, and demand has become more fragmented across occasions, lifestyles, and preferences. As the beverage landscape becomes more complex, customers deserve a distribution partner who can help them navigate change and uncover new growth opportunities.

“Over the past several years, we've taken important steps to evolve our business, expand our capabilities, and better serve our customers and supplier partners,” says Southern Glazer’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Wayne E. Chaplin.

“As consumer preferences continue to change and the beverage marketplace becomes increasingly dynamic, our company has grown well beyond its traditional wine and spirits roots,” he adds.

Now, we’re returning to the entrepreneurial spirit that shaped our earliest days, bringing our total beverage vision to the forefront and helping our customers grow in the next era of beverage.

Over 100 years in the beverage industry

The story of Southern Glazer’s didn’t begin with wine or spirits. It began with beverages.

Over a century ago, Louis Glazer — grandfather of Bennett Glazer, one of our founding members — distributed flavored soda water from the back of a horse-drawn wagon. Long before today’s beverage landscape took place, he recognized an enduring truth: success isn’t defined by what’s in the bottle, but by the ability to connect great products to the people who want them.

That entrepreneurial spirit would come to define both sides of our story. Decades later, Harvey Chaplin, one of the founders of Southern Wine & Spirits, took a similar approach, growing the Miami-based company into an industry powerhouse with national reach. Though their paths began separately, both businesses were defined by a willingness to innovate, adapt, and seize new opportunities.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the merger of Glazer's Inc. and Southern Wine & Spirits, bringing together two companies with a shared entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to customer success. Over the past decade, that combination has enabled us to expand our capabilities, adapt to changing customer needs, and strengthen our position in an increasingly dynamic beverage market.

Our transition to Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company is the next step in that journey.

A name that reflects a total beverage distribution business

For decades, we have distributed beverage products well beyond what our current name suggests, including water, coffee, and mixers. At the same time, we've expanded our capabilities across the beverage landscape. Now, we’re embracing that role with a name that reinforces the breadth of our business.

We offer a comprehensive portfolio that simplifies everything from purchasing to inventory management to delivery. From water to juice to beer to beverage alcohol, customers can access the products they need through a single distribution partner.

Several markets already operate under the Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company name. These markets have demonstrated the value of a broader beverage approach, enabling us to support customers and suppliers across more categories while maintaining the expertise, service, and execution that have long been our hallmark.

Rolling out the new name: Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company

This name change isn’t just an update to logos and email signatures; it reflects who we are today and where we are headed tomorrow.

The transition to Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company will occur through a phased, market-by-market rollout, culminating in a corporate name change in 2027. It’s a deliberate approach intended to support a seamless experience for employees, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders while ensuring business continuity throughout the process.

“While our name is changing, our purpose remains the same,” says Chaplin.

“We remain committed to building brands for moments that matter, delivering best-in-class service, and creating long-term value for our customers, suppliers, and communities. Our commitment to our core wine and spirits suppliers also remains as strong as ever, and these categories will continue to be central to who we are and how we serve the market.”
